Mindset

By Jayson Krause, Managing Director of Level 52 & Award-Winning Author of The Science Behind Success

In today's fast-paced and constantly changing world, having the right mindset is critical for success. The ARGO TIP method is a framework for mastering mindset that combines seven critical elements to achieve a positive and growth-oriented mindset. This article will describe the ARGO TIP method and the value and impact of each mindset element. Additionally, I will contrast each element with its opposite, providing insight into the importance of each mindset in achieving success.

Awareness Mindset

The first element of the ARGO TIP method is the Awareness Mindset. This mindset involves becoming conscious of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By being aware of our inner experiences, we can better understand our reactions to external events and take control of them. This mindset helps us develop self-awareness, which is critical for personal growth and self-improvement.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Unaware Mindset, this mindset involves being inattentive to our inner experiences, leading to impulsive behaviors and emotional reactions. The Unaware Mindset prevents us from understanding ourselves and taking control of our thoughts and emotions, hindering personal growth and development.

Reframe Mindset

The Reframe Mindset is the second element of the ARGO TIP method. This mindset involves reframing our perceptions of situations to create positive and growth-oriented perspectives. By changing how we see things, we can change how we react and respond to them, leading to better outcomes and greater success.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Negative Mindset, this mindset involves seeing the negative in situations and focusing on problems rather than solutions. The Negative Mindset can lead to feelings of helplessness and pessimism, hindering progress and success.

Grit Mindset

The third element of the ARGO TIP method is the Grit Mindset. This mindset involves perseverance, resilience, and a willingness to work hard to achieve our goals. Grit is essential for overcoming obstacles and setbacks, staying motivated, and achieving success.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Quit Mindset, this mindset involves giving up when faced with challenges and obstacles. The Quit Mindset can lead to feelings of defeat and failure, preventing progress and success.

Ownership Mindset

The fourth element of the ARGO TIP method is the Ownership Mindset. This mindset involves taking responsibility for our actions, decisions, and outcomes. By owning our actions, we can learn from mistakes, take corrective actions, and achieve success.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Victim Mindset, this mindset involves blaming external factors for our failures and mistakes. The Victim Mindset can lead to a lack of accountability and responsibility, hindering personal growth and development.

Transformation Mindset (Growth Mindset)

The fifth element of the ARGO TIP method is the Transformation Mindset, also known as the Growth Mindset. This mindset involves the belief that our abilities and qualities can be developed through effort and hard work. With a growth mindset, we can embrace challenges, learn from failures, and achieve greater success.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Fixed Mindset, this mindset involves the belief that our abilities and qualities are fixed and cannot be developed. The Fixed Mindset can lead to a fear of failure, a lack of motivation, and a reluctance to take risks, hindering personal growth and development.

Innovation Mindset (Positive Deviance)

The sixth element of the ARGO TIP method is the Innovation Mindset, also known as the Positive Deviance Mindset. This mindset involves challenging the status quo, embracing creativity, and taking risks to find new and innovative solutions to problems. The Innovation Mindset is essential for achieving success in today's rapidly changing world.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Conformity Mindset, this mindset involves conforming to existing norms and standards, avoiding risks and sticking to traditional methods. The Conformity Mindset can lead to a lack of creativity and innovation, preventing progress and growth.

Performance Mindset (Neutrality)

The seventh and final element of the ARGO TIP method is the Performance Mindset, also known as the Neutrality Mindset. This mindset involves maintaining a neutral and objective perspective towards situations, allowing us to make rational and informed decisions. The Performance Mindset is essential for achieving success in high-pressure situations and for making sound and effective decisions.

Contrasting with the opposite, the Emotional Mindset, this mindset involves making decisions based on our emotions rather than objective reasoning. The Emotional Mindset can lead to impulsive and irrational decisions, hindering success and progress.
