2024 Summer Reading Recommendations for Leaders

Summer reading recommendations

By Jayson Krause, Managing Director of Level 52 & Award-Winning Author of The Science Behind Success

I've been receiving a lot of requests for a summer reading list, so I wanted to share a few books I've recently read (or listened to) and found absolutely fascinating:

1. The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter

I loved this book. This is far from a David Goggins book, yet it explores how embracing discomfort is essential. There are some fascinating and very unique perspectives.

2. Co-Intelligence by Ethan Mollick

This is an AI book by a professor at MIT where he explores what AI is and how collaborating with an "alien" is our future.

3. Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg

As technology takes over more and more, human skills will be more and more important. If you enjoyed Power of Habit, you'll enjoy this.

4. Good Inside by Becky Kennedy

So many great nuggets in this book. Yes, it has made me cringe at the ghosts of my parenting past, but loved the message and a different spin from other parenting books.

5. The Tiger by John Vailant

A gripping tale that delves into the relationship between humans and nature, with a focus on survival and respect and a great example of the application of empathy in a rugged environment.

6. The River of Doubt by Candice Millard

An extraordinary journey into the Amazon with Theodore Roosevelt, highlighting adventure and mind-boggling perseverance.

7. Bonus Shameless Plug: The Science Behind Success by Jayson Krause

If you haven't read it, then make this summer the time to read or listen to it.

Whether you're looking to challenge your thinking, improve your communication skills, or simply get lost in a captivating story, there's something here for everyone. Happy reading!
